July 2020 Wrap Up

Hi Everyone!

Hope you read some great books in July! I read and reviewed 6 books, pictured above. It was unplanned to have a stack of uniform black color books 😂 The last week of July I experienced the reading slump and turned to Netflix for comfort. I watched a few episodes of The Magicians and realized how their Fillory was similar to The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I also finished out season 6 of The 100 and loved it! I loved the new planet. The sky was so beautiful. All 6 seasons of The 100, I enjoyed all except the gory killings. I really want to read the series again because I only read the first two books of the four from the series.

Last year I was introduced to Karin Slaughter by the publicist from William Morrow. I was invited to read and review The Last Widow and ended up loving it. This year, Karin Slaughter came out with a new book, The Silent Wife. It’s the author’s 20th books in 20 years. I also attended a zoom meeting to meet Karin Slaughter to hear her talk about this new book. It was awesome. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it as well. Some Instagrammers decided to have a book club reading for The Good Daughter and I decided to join in. I loved the book and enjoyed the book club reading. So now I have read 3 books from this author. I have 17 of her books on my TBR list 😁

Last year I read Megan Goldin’s debut The Escape Room and loved it. So when I saw her new book, The Night Swim, I just couldn’t missed it. It was an excellent read and a twist with the podcast view.

I have been reading the Cormoran Strike series since May 2020 I believe. So in July I finished reading book 3 called Career of Evil. I’m currently reading book 4 and if you haven’t heard, book 5 will hit stores in September! I enjoyed reading this series a lot. It’s slow paced but well written and great characters with good investigative work.

The remaining two books in my picture: The Girl Who Drank the Moon and The Mall. The middle grade fantasy was highly raved on Goodreads when it came out and I just couldn’t wait to get to it. I’m so glad I read it in July because The Girl Who Drank the Moon was fantastic! The Mall was definitely a book that reminded me of the simple weekends where my friends and I hung out at the mall for window shopping, eating, and movies. The days before social media and iPhones 😊

July was a great reading month for me because I enjoyed all of the books I read. I also tried something new by reading with a group. It won’t be my last. I just hope I could read more than 6 books but reading sure takes time 😂

I hope you will have a great reading month in August! Can’t believe it’s the last month of summer.

xoxo,

Jasmine

I love Karin Slaughter! I will be listening to her newest one later this month. I saw book 5 in the Cormoran Strike series is coming out soon and realized I still needed to read book 4 – yikes! So I am getting on that soon.

Have a fantastic August and Happy Reading!
