My Experience: I read Famous American of the Month Flip Chart for my 5 year-old-son at breakfast time this past weekend and again as a story time and he loved it. The flip chart is big and the colors are bright so it’s an attention grabber. The pictures are awesome glimpses into what each character’s specialty are. I love the mini-biographies. They filled with quick interesting facts about each famous historical figures. Each person has a poem and a mini-biography with the year they are born and died and what each of them did that stands out. Each page is thick and laminated so it will last for a long time and won’t be easily damaged by water or anything.
My son enjoys the biography of Johnny Appleseed a lot. We read a kids book regarding him before. It’s interesting to know that he’s an important figure in our history. We also learned about George Washington being the Father of our Country. It’s amazing to find out what he did so long ago. I love these quick facts and I love that it’s written in a way that it’s easy to read and comprehend. It’s packed with important information about each person that you can’t help but wanting to read it again because it amazes you what they did. I love the story of Rosa Parks and how she’s the Mother of the Civil Rights Movement.
This Famous American of the Month Flip Chart is a great addition to kids learning. I love that such important information is being introduced to kids at a young age. I’m embarrassed to admit that reading this flip chart is a refresher course for me because many dates and facts I still have yet to memorized. I also love the choice of important historical figures in this flip chart because the people varies, from baseball major league to inventor to women fighting for the rights to vote. At the back of this poster, there is a page devoted to teaching tips for using this flip chart. I highly recommend this flip chart to everyone!
Pro: picture, famous Americans, learning, reading, biographies, interesting facts, easy to read & comprehend, non-fiction,

This is a really cute tool for an elementary classroom, I think. I love the idea of learning about a new historical figure each month. What inspired you to read the whole thing at once, instead of looking at it month by month?

Each person’s poem & mini biography is so interesting that we can’t stop at one person. My son wants to know who’s next and I do too 🙂

It’s very nice that something like this is made. I don’t think we have anything like that over here in my country, but it is a great way for kids to learn about history. As always: great post!😊
