Lego: Nexo Knights – Macy and the King’s Tournament Review

Synopsis from Scholastic:

It’s the king’s birthday celebration — the biggest party of theyear! When Jorah Tightwad challenges the NEXO KNIGHTS(TM) team to a competition against his own heroes, the Tighty Knighties, Macy is ready to show her stuff. But how can she do that when she’s ordered to sit beside the king during the competition? And just what kind of birthday present do Jestro and The Book of Monsters have planned for King Halbert?

About: Macy and the King’s Tournament is a fiction children’s picture book written by Rebecca L. Schmidt. This book belongs to the Lego Nexo Knights series. It will be published on 4/25/17 by Scholastic Inc, paperback, 32 pages. This book is intended for readers ages 6 to 8, grades 1 to 3. Scholastic’s mission is to “encourage the intellectual and personal growth of all children, beginning with literacy.” Please see below for more information about Scholastic. I couldn’t find any info on the author.

My Experience: I started reading Lego: Nexo Knights, Macy and the King’s Tournament as a bedtime story for my 5 years old son on 4/1/17 and we finished it that same night. This book is thin with more pictures than words. I enjoyed the humor in this book. My son loves it because it’s Lego. He also loved that some characters from this book came from the other Lego book we read before. Here’s my review of the other Lego book: Knights Academy. We had a blast reading this book!

In this book, readers will follow Macy, a member of the Nexo Knights practicing her skills with the mace in the training room. Her mom interrupted Macy’s practice to request her attendance for King’s birthday celebration and he wanted her to wear a dress. Macy doesn’t like wearing a dress because she’s a Knight. At the party, a guest, Jorah Tightwad bragged about his group of knights known as Tighty Knighties were the best knights compared to Macy and her fellow Nexo Knights. A bet ensued and a tournament takes place. In the meantime, the bad guys Jestro and The Book of Monsters were putting together a plan to conquer the kingdom. They will show up at the tournament and we will see which group of Knights handled the bad guys.

It’s a great book for kids. I like that each chapter has a title, and it pretty much summarize what to expect in that chapter. The storyline is upbeat and fun. I like that the author allows both group of knights to be good at something. The Tighty Knighties may be good at using his sword to craft a sculpture, but afraid of a battle with real weapons. I like how the Knights are being valued. I always like stories where good wins over evil. I highly recommend this book to everyone!

Pro: cover, humor, friendship, competition, Nexo Knights, colored pictures,

Con: none

I rate it 5 stars!

It is amazing that LEGO has changed so much since the time that I was young (okay no I really feel old lol). Seriously though, movies, games, novels….it is great that there is so much stuff besides the toy itself, that is available for kids these days. This looks like a fun read, and as always ofcourse an amazing review 😊

Thanks Michel. Lego is definitely a big business. I’m really amazed by them.. there is also a theme park called Legoland. I’m not sure if it’s only located in USA. It might not be. I haven’t been there but have seen some youtube videos of people visiting there. I have started noticing the toys, books, and movies too and I don’t think you will ever be too old to play with Lego. You could build some amazing buildings! 🙂

If I remember correctly Legoland is in Denmark. Which means it is pretty close to my own country (well….it is not as far as the USA anyway 😊). But you are right, LEGO is still a lot of fun. Being a StarvWars fan, I occasionally buy one of the Star Wars LEGO sets to build. They are very cool 😊
