About: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a special rehearsal edition script written by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany, and Jack Thorne. This book was published on 7/31/2016 by Arthur A. Levine Books, 327 pages. The genres are fantasy, young adult, fiction, and plays. This is considered the 8th book in the Harry Potter Collection.
My Experience: I started reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on 10/18/16 and finished it on 10/20/16. I really want to like this book but honestly, I don’t. I feel the story is not very original. I read through the book without loving it or hating it. I don’t feel for the new characters. I remember reading the first few Harry Potter books and feeling very interested and very absorbed, but reading this book doesn’t give me that feeling. [I’m sad to be on the unpopular side of Harry Potter this time, if you love this book, don’t read further. Not good to be upset over my review]
The leading actions and adventures are carried out by Harry’s middle child, Albus Severus Potter and Draco’s only son Scorpius Malfoy. In the second generation, their sons are best buddies. They wanted to go back in time to rescue someone and experienced ups and downs along the way. The actions and adventures doesn’t have much struggles. There were hardly any puzzles to solve.
Overall, I was hoping for another original story with actions & adventures filled with struggles, espionage, difficult puzzles to solve, and secrets but ended with a fast-paced lower than middle grade read. {The son doesn’t get along with the dad, the son act out, lesson learned, the end}.
Pro: fast-paced, quick read
Con: unoriginal, so-so actions & adventures, no adrenaline rush,
I rate it 3.5 stars!

***Disclaimer: I borrowed this book from my local public library and my opinions are honest. (Putting my buddy read on hold because we both have library books that are due soon haha.. Welcome to the life of a library book reader haha)

I love the snake belt accessory for the pic!
Yeah, I’m not too into the idea of reading this one…I think it turns me off because it is a play, and I’m not a fan of reading plays. I’ll probably read it after I read books 5-7 (yup, I stopped awhile back and never finished the series…I only saw the movies).
Are you going to read Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them?

Thanks! I would rather you read the original HP series than this book. Besides money making to extend HP’s life, I see no point in having this book around. I do want to look into the fantastic beast book but not in a hurry for it 😊

I prefer the original 7 books. This one, I recommend to read from the library first before buy. 😊

Thanks! I’ve read the 7 books, but I don’t own any. I’m going to buy the set as a Christmas gift to myself! 😀

but, it doesn’t seem to be something you would wear based on the few photos of the way you were dressed.

Great and honest review, I’ve been tempted to read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, but I’m afraid that it won’t be as good as the other books. I’m a huge fan, I guess you could call me a Potterhead, so I’ll most likely read this book and see if it’s worthwhile. 🙂

After reading this book, I would rather go back and re-read the other books instead because this one doesn’t live up to the previous books.

I liked his first movie where it all started cause he really looked so cute and then slowly all his movies picked up but the author of Harry Potter is so amazing jasmine, from where to where her imagination runs. What a woman. Jasmine are you a Gujarati from your pic it looks so

Thanks for the honest review! I’ll probably pass on this one. I’ve heard too many bad reviews on it. That it’s nothing like the original HP.

It’s better to re-read the first 7 books than to read this one. 😊

When you read An Ember in the Ashes and then you read this book. You feel like you fall off a horse because you’re caught off guard. It was so good and then what happened? 😂 yeah, most anticipated book is a flop.. So sad!

Cursed Child was an alright book but it didn’t surpass my expectations. More than anything, I didn’t enjoy the format it was written in. It was bland and messy. Hermione got at least three different personalities in this book. Plus.. it didn’t take me into another world like the rest of Rowling’s HP books did.

I agree with you completely and I felt the same way. Hence my 3.5 stars 😊

Only review books you love?

Yup.. Plus the ARCs I get from NetGalley. I don’t have a lot of time to write reviews since I’m always busy with school and stuff. And when I do have time, I rarely am in the mood to write. It sucks. >.<

Uhm well it’s a bit of a toss up. I have a romance ARC on my kindle I’ve been reading, I started Pride Prejudice and Zombies but put it down, then my eldest and I are reading Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children out loud to each other before bedtime. So I guess I’m in the middle of a lot ha

It’s better to read the other books in the series first because this book revisits scenes from the previous books.
