My Blog Story:

In 2010, my computer friend invited me to host a blog with him. He will do the computer side and I will manage the content. I wrote reviews on travel, restaurants, makeup, skincare, and money advice. I didn’t enjoy it much and he pushed me to write more and to post more interesting topics. Well, I’m no journalist or a writer for that matter, and I do have a full-time job. I was discovering myself in the blogging community and it was tough discovering with another person. He paid for the domain and I quit after one year.

In July, 2014, I started again, and this time on my own. I still don’t know what my specific focus will be on but I want whatever my content to be, that it will be useful or helpful to anyone visiting my blog. That’s how my blog name came to be. I read off and on. I worried about my time spent on reading. I thought that I should read the news so that I can be aware of what is going on in the world. I thought I should read more non-fiction books because there are abundant of knowledge to learn. But the news sadden me. I feel upset and heart broken to discover that there are so many pedophiles, war that don’t have an ending, and so many crimes in this world. I don’t enjoy reading facts I need to know and I just stop reading.

The first year and a half of having my blog, I only use to browse through other bloggers, one leading to the next and I discover books again, fiction books to be exact. I read the Lunar Chronicles and fall in love with books again.

My Advice to New Bloggers:

  1. If you are writing a book review, do include a picture of the book. Picture worth a thousand words.
  2. Join NetGalley and Goodreads. You’re not only get to read new books for free but also help motivate authors to write more. The reviews that you post on your blog, Goodreads, NetGalley, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and etc are priceless. To be able to spread the word about books you love, it benefit both sides. The author gets recognitions and you get to meet new friends who share the same interest as you.
  3. Money advice: You don’t have to buy every book that comes out. Surprisingly, the library is very updated with their collections. Read the book from the library first, if you love it, then you buy it. Don’t buy based on raves because you may not love it and the money can’t be refunded. Overdrive is an online library with many electronic books.

Jasmine, I’m only confused about something, did you create the image which says which says The Blogger Recognition Inside, or did you acquire it from somewhere? Thanks once more 🙂 !

I don’t create the award image. It is used in every post by anyone who were nominated. You can click on the page who nominated me and see she uses the same image. You can click on the name of the person who nominated her and on. I just save the image to my computer and then insert to my post.

Thank you ever so much for nominating me, Jasmine I truly appreciate the thoughtfulness conceded.
Once again you have wrote an enrapturing post, and I’m glad you have a passion for blogging rather than doing it for the pressure. And I really must get a Goodreads account, thanks one more Jasmine :-)!

Thanks hehe I could go back to your old posts to read your blog story if you prefer. But this award is short so it shouldn’t take long to do 😊 and it’s good to nominate new followers 😊

You have such an interesting blog story. 🙂 And I love your blog advice. Goodreads and NetGalley keep me in check and are such great book resources. I didn’t realize the library had so many current books until a few months ago. Then I discovered OverDrive and was really surprised. I completely agree with you on adding a cover. Sometimes it’s the cover the pulls me into the review. I also like to see a synopsis. It’s very hard to read a review for a book I’ve never heard if the blogger hasn’t provided a synopsis or at least added a bit of it in their review. Nice post! 🙂

It depends. Sometimes the synopsis gives away most of the book. If I can find what I need in the review, then I’m okay without a synopsis. But if it’s a book I’ve never read, sometimes I might skip the review if I don’t see a synopsis. I guess it depends on the author and book. And the person who’s reviewing the book. If it’s someone I know, I don’t need it.
