About: Good at Games, 512 pages, is a fiction novel written by Jill Mansell. It was published on 1/5/16 by Sourcebooks Landmark. The genre is women’s fiction. This author has numerous other books that I have not had the opportunity to read. To name a few: Perfect Timing, Rumor Has It, A Walk in the Park, Thinking of You, and more.
My Experience: I started reading Good at Games on 4/22/16 and finished it on 5/14/16. This book is an okay read, so-so, bland, etc. Suzy is a real estate agent working for her brother’s realtor firm. She likes good looking rich men and likes to keep her men close to home. She friends and neighbors with her ex-husband and his other ex-wife. She likes the traffic cop but fall head over heels for his rich brother. Suzy’s brother, Rory, likes someone’s ex-wife but afraid to talk to her, next thing you know, they can’t get away from the bed. Their mom has a secret life with a secret child that pops up after her death. They all try to get along. A story came up about Harry rescue a cat for reward money and Leo return the money and confess the story was a fake. I was expecting the current story of Harry rescuing two kids and Suzy giving him a check for $10k, that someone will return Suzy back her $10k but no one did. He didn’t lose his money not marrying Suzy when he choose to marry Celeste, why then why does he pockets Suzy’s money? Also, at the end, Celeste came crawling back but no mention of Harry. After going on the suspense and thriller ride with Gone Girl, The Passenger, and The Girl on The Train, this book is really plain for me.
Pro: humor, fast paced, easy going,
Con: slow start, no romance
I rate it 3.5 stars!
