About: The Wisconsin State Capitol was built in 1838. It was rebuilt 25 years later to expand it and again after a devastating fire, designed by George B. Post & Sons. The Madison Capitol is distinguished as being the only State Capitol ever built on an isthmus. The capitol is over 200 feet tall and adorned by the unique textures of 43 varieties of stone from around the world, hand-carved furniture, and exquisite glass mosaics.
My experience: I have visited the Wisconsin Capitol Building many times. Each time is a new experience because I always bring with me a visitor from out of town. I took lots of pictures when I first visited and I took lots of pictures each time I brought a guest. There is a guided tour if reservation is made ahead of time; however, one can stroll through the open spaces on his/her own. The guided tour takes you to places that you cannot go on your own, such as the observation deck and the old courtroom.
Pros: always positive to visit your state’s capitol building
Cons: none
I rate it 5 stars!
